Privacy policy

Most privacy policies are long because the company holds a lot of your data. This one is short because we hold almost none, and none of it is your files.

Your files

Every tool on this site runs inside your browser. When you add a photo, your browser decodes it, resizes it, compresses it and hands you the result. At no point does the file travel to us, because there is no server involved in the work.

This is not a promise about how carefully we store your data. It is a statement that there is nothing to store. We could not look at your photograph or your signature if we wanted to, and we could not be compelled to hand it over, because it never reached us.

Concretely, and to be unambiguous, we never receive:

  • the contents of any file you open with a tool here
  • the name, size, dimensions or type of that file
  • the result you download, or the fact that you downloaded it
  • anything derived from the image, such as a thumbnail, hash or preview

How to check that claim yourself

You should not have to take our word for it, and you do not have to. There are two checks, both of which take under a minute:

  1. Watch the network. Press F12 to open your browser’s developer tools and pick the Network tab, then use a tool normally. You will see the page and its code load, and after that nothing carrying your image. No upload appears because none happens.
  2. Pull the plug. Load an exam page, then turn off your Wi-Fi or mobile data, then resize a photo. It still works, because the work was never happening anywhere else. (One caveat, stated honestly: a feature you have not used yet on that page may need to fetch a small piece of code the first time, so do the offline test after you have resized one file.)

What is and is not collected

We collect anonymous, aggregate information about page visits: which pages were opened, roughly which country the visit came from, and which site linked here. It exists so we can tell which exams to add next and whether a page is broken. It is not tied to you, and no profile is built.

We do not ask you to create an account, and there is nothing to sign up for. We do not collect your name, email address or phone number unless you choose to write to us, in which case we have whatever you put in that message and nothing more.

We do not sell data. There is no data to sell, and if there were, we would not.

Cookies

The tools themselves set no cookies and need none. Our analytics is deliberately chosen to be cookieless, which is also why you are not being asked to dismiss a consent banner before using a free utility.

Advertising is the exception, and it is covered next.

Advertising

This site is free and is funded by advertising. When ads are enabled, Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve them. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google’s Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies more broadly at aboutads.info. Third-party vendors and ad networks operate under their own privacy policies, which we do not control.

Two commitments about how ads appear here. Ads never sit inside the tool area, so nothing can be mistaken for a download button or interrupt you mid-task. And nothing about your files is ever shared with an advertiser, because that information does not exist on our side to share.

Your rights

Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, and under the GDPR if you are in the UK or EU, you have the right to ask what personal data an organisation holds about you, to have it corrected, and to have it erased.

In our case the honest answer to a request like that is short: we almost certainly hold nothing about you, because the analytics is anonymous and aggregate and we run no accounts. If you have written to us, we hold that message, and we will delete it on request. Either way, ask via the contact page and you will get a straight answer.

Retention, for completeness: aggregate analytics are kept in summary form only. Messages you send are kept while we deal with them and deleted afterwards.

Children

These are general-purpose file utilities, not a service aimed at children, and they are not directed at anyone under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, which is straightforward here given we collect almost none from anybody.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, the date at the top of this page will change and the change will be described here rather than quietly swapped in. Material changes are also noted in the changelog, which is public and dated.
