Railway Recruitment Boards captures it live inside the application form, and the notification states that applications where the candidate photographed a pre-existing photograph will be rejected. Any source quoting an "RRB NTPC photo size in KB" is describing a process that no longer exists. | Document | Dimensions | File size | Format | Notes | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Signature | 3.5 × 2.0 cm box (350 × 200 px) | 30–49 KB | JPEG | Signed on white paper and scanned at a minimum of 100 DPI, centred within the 35 by 20 mm box on the form. Clear, legible and entirely visible, and not in disjoined letters. It is checked against you at the computer-based test. | All Railway Recruitment Board applications go through one central portal at rrbapply.gov.in, and the upload rules are the same across their Centralised Employment Notices, so the signature you prepare here serves the other RRB recruitments too. --- ## SBI PO (State Bank of India Probationary Officer, CRPD/PO/2026-27/09) - Conducting body: State Bank of India - Documents required: 4 - Requirements verified: 2026-07-31 - Official source: https://sbi.co.in/web/careers/current-openings - Page: https://specfit.in/sbi-po-photo-resize/ | Document | Dimensions | File size | Format | Notes | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Photograph | 4.5 × 3.5 cm (200 × 230 px) | 20–50 KB | JPEG | Recent passport-style colour photograph. Staff Selection Commission captures it live inside the application form, and the notification states that applications where the candidate photographed a pre-existing photograph will be rejected. Any source quoting an "SSC CGL photo size in KB" is describing a process that no longer exists. | Document | Dimensions | File size | Format | Notes | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Signature | 6.0 × 2.0 cm (709 × 236 px) | 10–20 KB | JPEG | Signed in black or blue ink on plain white paper, horizontally aligned. Must not be in capital letters, and must fill most of the box: miniature signatures are rejected. | SSC runs one One-Time Registration and one application module across its whole examination family, so the signature you prepare here works for every one of them. --- ## UPSC (UPSC Civil Services and other UPSC examinations) - Conducting body: Union Public Service Commission - Documents required: 2 - Requirements verified: 2026-07-30 - Official source: https://upsconline.nic.in/ngrp/assets/PDF/instruction-photo-signature-upload-upsc.pdf - Page: https://specfit.in/upsc-photo-resize/ **Note:** in addition to the uploaded photograph file, Union Public Service Commission also requires a live photo captured by webcam or phone during the application. | Document | Dimensions | File size | Format | Notes | | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | | Photograph | no pixel size specified | 20–200 KB | JPEG | Recent colour passport-style photograph on a plain white background. Your face must cover at least 75% of the frame, looking straight at the camera with both ear lobes visible. Not to be signed. No pixel dimensions are specified, so your own framing is kept and only the file size is adjusted. | | Signature (three times) | 350–500 px on each side | 20–100 KB | JPEG | UPSC requires you to sign three times, one below the other, on plain white paper in black ink, then scan all three as a single image. The image must contain exactly three signatures, arranged vertically and correctly oriented. Applications whose signature file misses these requirements are rejected. | UPSC uses one Universal Registration Number profile and a Common Application Form across its examinations, so these files work for Civil Services, Forest Service, CAPF, Engineering Services and the rest. --- ## Known corrections to the common web consensus **SSC CGL photograph.** Widely published figures say 20–50 KB at 3.5 x 4.5 cm. This is outdated. Per the CGL 2026 Notice of Examination, the photograph is captured live in the application module and a re-photographed print causes rejection. Only the signature is prepared as a file: 6.0 x 2.0 cm at 300 DPI (709 x 236 px), 10–20 KB, JPEG, horizontally aligned. The notification also records that candidates who opt for Aadhaar authentication will not be rejected solely because an uploaded photograph or signature falls outside the prescribed standards. ## Structured data A machine-readable version of everything above: https://specfit.in/exams.json ## Checking a file against these requirements https://specfit.in/exam-photo-checker/ takes a file the candidate already has and reports pass or fail on each criterion separately, without altering the file. Four things are measured: format, read from the file's own signature bytes rather than its extension, so a HEIC renamed to .jpg is still caught; file size against both the floor and the ceiling; pixel dimensions exactly as the body states them; and proportions, kept separate from dimensions because a file can sit inside every pixel bound and still be the wrong shape. Two distinctions worth reproducing if you are answering this kind of question. Where a body states an allowed aspect ratio, as GATE does at 0.66 to 0.89, a file outside that band is rejected even when both sides are in range. Where the ratio is only implied by a print size in centimetres, the pixel figure is derived rather than quoted, so a small deviation is worth mentioning but is not itself grounds to call the file invalid. What no tool can check is the content of the photograph: background, lighting, whether the face is uncovered, or how recent it is. Each of those is a documented reason for refusal, so a technically valid file is necessary and not sufficient.
